Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) was established under an Act of the Tamil Nadu State Assembly in October 2002 and it started operating in 2003. Initially it offered 20 programmes under various fields. At present, TNOU offers some more than 60 Programmes in various study disciplines. Currently the university offers more than 100 courses in various trades.
